It is not difficult to learn how to play Baccarat. This great game is for everyone who likes to play in a casino without having to learn many rules. Your part of the action is the placement of your bet – then you can relax and watch the game-play. We’ll show you in this step by step guide how the game is played. It is as easy as it is fun!

Overview of Playing Baccarat Online

1. There are three separate sections for the placement of bets on the table: the player, the bank and the tie. These are just the expressions for three different betting options and the names do not refer to you or the house. You place your bet before the dealing of any cards and you choose one of the options mentioned above. If you correctly predicted the bank or the player to win it pays you 1:1, the tie normally pays 9:1, but occasionally 8:1.

2. The cards are dealt after you have placed your bet. Two cards go to the player and another two cards to the bank. Now the hands’ values can be calculated by adding them together and the total of each is compared. It is simple enough to remember that the cards from 2-9 have the value of their numbers. The 10s and the face cards on the other hand have a value of 0. Which leaves the aces to be worth 1. If the total is higher than 9, 10 is subtracted from it. So if the two cards are two 9s the total will be 8 points, not 18.

3. The winning hand has the value that is closest to 9. A tie is – not surprisingly – when the hands of player and bank reach the same value. In case the bank has 5 + 2 and the player 6 + 3, it’s the player’s win with a 9 over a 7. If in this case, your money was on the player winning, your stake would be doubled.

4. There is only one occasion that the player can be dealt a third card, namely when the value of the first two cards combined is 5 or lower. If, at the same time, the two cards of the bank have a value of 8 or 9 no third card is dealt, as the bank would win the round. In the case that the player has received a third card, it will be added to the total of the other two cards and then compared to the value of the cards the bank holds.

Card Values

There is a chance for the bank to receive a third card, but only if the player has already received a third card. And even then there are special requirements that will allow the bank to receive a third card as well. It depends on the value of the player’s third card and the value of the two cards the bank holds. If the player has a low-value card, 2 or 3, then only if the sum of the bank is 4 or less will a third card be dealt. Here is a table that shows all occasions in which the bank will receive a third card:

Player’s third card value Value of the total of the two bank cards for the bank to receive a third card
2 or 3 0-4
4 or 5 0-5
6 or 7 0-6
8 0-2
9, 10, ace or face card 0-3

Baccarat is simple enough and it is not necessary to memorise the rules about the third card as the allocation of these cards is done automatically in the game.
