Fire Joker at Mr Green

A quick look at Fire Joker may have you somewhat confused as to what era this game comes from, as it looks like it has come straight from the 80s. It is certainly a throwback to the slots, and fruit machines of that era, but was released as recently as June 2016.

Mr Green casino stocks slots in all shapes and sizes and this one certainly has some pretty unique characteristics and features that you won’t find anywhere else.

How to play Fire Joker

Made by Play’n GO, Fire Joker is old-school in appearance but there’s a lot more going on here than on those basic one-arm bandits found in dusty casinos and run-down bars a few decades ago.

But, first things first. You can’t spin away until you’ve settled on a stake and that’s done by clicking on one of the boxes displaying amounts underneath the reels. Use the arrows to the left and right to see additional amounts you can play for. The minimum is €0.05, and the maximum is €100 per spin.

Using the Auto Play function, you can play between 10 and 100 spins automatically but you can also decide for them to come to a halt if certain events happen. Such as if you get any win at all, if a bonus game is won or if your balance decreases by a certain amount before the pre-determined number of auto spins have come to an end.

You can use the Settings section (bottom left) to adjust the sound or choose to spin in ‘Fast Play’ mode which is done just that little bit quicker than normal play.

Where Fire Joker really is retro is in terms of it being just a 3x3 reel slot; something you don’t see so often these days in online casinos.

Key features of Fire Joker

Old-school fruit machines got their name from the fact that the symbols always tended to be fruits. Same here, so there are cherries, lemons, grapes and plums to look forward to. Less ‘fruitful’ than these is the X symbol, the lowest-paying symbol in the game and more fruitful are the Bar symbol, the Golden Star and the Red 7, the top-paying symbol of the slot.

The first way that this game is different to so many others is that all symbols come become stacked across all 3 reels. This means that each reel can show 3 the same symbols.

There are five different ways of winning. Three identical symbols in a row across the bottom, middle or top line; or diagonally from top to bottom, or bottom to top. Only symbol combinations from left to right pay out prizes.

Fire Joker Wild symbol

We’re over halfway into the review and we haven’t yet mentioned the star attraction. Our eponymous hero, the Fire Joker. Complete with Jester’s hat and a smile as wide as a slice of watermelon: he’s the Wild.

That means that he substitutes for any other symbol but because he always appears stacked, the potential for him to help form winning lines is much greater.

Bonus features in Fire Joker

Some would say that the stacked symbols are a feature but that’s not what we really mean by bonus features. There is more, and this is where the game really lights up…

Re-spin of fire

Sometimes you are so close: you get the same symbol on a line on two of the three reels, but not the third.

A Re-spin of Fire may just be about to change your luck because what happens is that the two reels with the same symbol stay put, but the third spins just the once to see if that elusive symbol appears to help you secure a win. It’s a sort of ‘second chance’ and though it won’t always come good for you, there are plenty of times when it will bail you out.

Remember that the Joker appearing during the Re-Spin is just as good as a third identical symbol. The simple fact that the game stops to go through the Re-spin of Fire also does a lot to break the occasional monotony of a run of non-winning spins.

Wheel of Multipliers

Occasionally all three reels are filled with the same symbol. If that sounds like an unlikely thing to happen, remember that there are only nine spaces to fill on the reels and that there could be numerous Fire Joker Wilds scattered around, which of course can substitute for anything else.

Not only do you bank the win that comes from all those identical symbols, but you may just be about to multiply what you’ve won exponentially. That’s because you get to spin the Wheel of Multipliers, awarding you a multiplier of between 2x and 10x your win.

Conclusion

It all seems very basic and unfussy at first, but the stacked symbols, Re-spin and Wheel of Multipliers are seldom seen on many other slots, so it scores well on the originality stakes when it comes to features. Not to mention that a 3×3 reel is a rare sight at an online slots these days.

The re-spin makes quite frequent appearances and though the Wheel of Multipliers isn’t triggered that often, it’s normally worth your while when it is.

All in all, a fun little medium variance slot that does enough to stand out from the rest to be worth a few spins.
